The Passion of Photography

I caught the photography bug back in high school.
We had a scheduled class trip to London and I worked for 2 weeks harvesting tobacco leaves to earn enough money to but my first real camera, a Minolta SLR (I cannot recall for sure but it may have been a model XD-7). That was back in 1982.

Over the years I followed my other passion of helping people and now I am at a point where I can turn my previous hobby into a professional endeavor.

I am at the beginning of this career and I am studying the old and new masters from Ansel Adams to Mitch Dobrowner.
Why do their pictures speak to me? I think it is because they respect the beauty of nature without trying to improve too much on her with excessive digital image manipulations.

I strongly feel that the picture should be an honest reproduction of nature. If the picture is excessively altered, I consider it art, based or inspired by photography, but not photography itself.
Too many people are getting used to garish HDR pictures that are floating on the usual social media sites and end up disappointed when they see the site with their own eyes.

These are just my feelings, many will obviously disagree with me on these points. I will forge my own path being guided those who came before me and inspired by my love for photography and nature.
